dc.description.abstractThe application of new technologies such as new sequencing platforms and the use of genetic markers will improve our ability to detect plant pathogens and will increase our understanding of theirpopulation biology and epidemiology. General objectives: 1. To test and develop broad-spectrum detection platforms for the rapid identification of suspect ral infections. While the project specifically targets viruses, the techniques developed are also likely to be useful for other pathogens such as fungi, phytoplasms and bacterias in a broad range of crops of economical and social importance. 2.
